14 May 2023 – 11am to 4pm

Event: National Mills weekend

Location: Cannock Mill and Bourne Mill, Colchester

Cannock Mill is an historic watermill converted for use as the hub of our cohousing community, beautifully maintained and converted into functional social spaces whilst retaining many original features. The mill was used at different times for both grinding flour and as a fulling mill. The original mill featured in maps in 1311 and was completely rebuilt in 1845 as ‘an overshot mill fed by three iron pipes from an embanked pond’.

This event was very successful and attracted 70 visitors, who enjoyed short tours of our mill building, the mill pond and grounds and a short tour of one of the community’s state of the art Passivhaus homes.
